What are the requirements for passing DMARC?

A message must receive a true 'pass' result in *either* SPF or DKIM in order to pass DMARC.  In addition beyond the base protocol, there must be identifier alignment.

Alignment:

In the DKIM instance this means that the DKIM-Signature d= domain must equal the domain of the From header.

In the SPF instance this means that the domain verified by SPF the SMTP conversation (mail-from normally, but if that is empty then SPF falls back to the hostname specified in the helo/ehlo) must equal the domain of the From header.
